Communication needs improvement, change who you leave in charge or your beautiful place won’t get the good reviews it de Positive: The aesthetic of this place is everything. The pool although I had a reaction to it later(too much chemicals poured in?). The kitchen has everything you’ll need, the work poured into this place can be seen, the owner should be proud of themselves. The people working there are nice. Negative: No response from the owner when we arrived(as two female solo travelers we felt unsafe and the lack of communication was unprofessional from the owners part). The five men who said they knew the place and took our luggages without our consent obviously overcharged us they could see the desperation on our faces after being left stranded, google map doesn’t help on the island(which is what I often use when owners don’t respond). Honestly the most unsafe I’ve felt in all my travel adventure. I wouldn’t come back. Oh not to mention Martin the one left in charge there who is so greedy will try to get cash out of you any chance he gets(speaking Swahili came in handy here)We bought water outside he accused us of taking the water 5liter that he sells for 200ksh. Instead of asking he goes right into accusations.

Positive: A very beautiful house with large apartments and the outstanding design/ architecture of Urko Sanchez Negative: The rooms could be better maintained, to keep the wonderful atmosphere alive

Responsive, gracious and helpful hosts. Clean and well furnished rooms. Positive: Swahili Dreams Apartments is nestled in a residential neighbourhood within Lamu Old Town. The property is a 10 minute walk to the nearest shops and restaurants, and about a 5 minute walk to the main street or pier. The rooms are well furnished, and clean, with loads of space in the living area. The kitchen is well set up, however I would recommend only carrying breakfast items, and eating out for the rest of your stay. The host Zeinab is was incredibly hospitable, and will help you organise any trips or excursions to Shela, Manda and anywhere else you'd like to go.
